    a plural of penny: the small units of British money, used when you say how much something costs. One hundred pence make one pound, and it is often written as p.

    pence 就是 penny（便士，英國的小錢）的複數。說「多少錢」的時候用 pence，例如 fifty pence（五十便士）、a few pence（幾便士）、a 20 pence stamp（二十便士的郵票）。英國人講一枚一枚、數得出來的硬幣時，會用另一個複數 pennies，例如 three pennies in my hand。可以這樣分：pence 跟著「金額」走，pennies 跟著「硬幣」走。100 pence 等於 1 pound（英鎊），標價時常縮寫成 p，唸作 /piː/。

Think of pence as the small change side of British money: one hundred of these little units add up to one pound. It is simply the plural of penny — you say fifty pence, not fifty pennys — and on price tags it is usually shrunk to a single letter, 50p.
