A parishioner is a person who belongs to a parish: the area around a Christian church, or the church community itself. Most of the time it means someone who lives there and goes to that church with some regularity, not a visitor who walked in once. Priests and pastors talk about their parishioners the way a teacher talks about students. It is a church word, a little formal, and you will hear it more in Catholic and older Protestant settings. In everyday talk, people often just say or members.
