正式A paradigm is a whole way of thinking about something - a model, a pattern, or a set of assumptions that people use as their starting point. When someone talks about a 'paradigm shift', they mean a big change in how everyone in a field thinks, not just one small fact changing. This is a somewhat academic, serious word - you'll meet it in science, business, and education writing more than in daily conversation. It is also a hard word for to pronounce, because the middle 'g' is silent.
