In British English, people often say orientated when Americans would say oriented. It means the same thing: your time, work, or thinking is pointed at one kind of thing. A family-orientated company tries to make room for family. A practically orientated course spends more time doing the work than talking about it. You will hear it in the UK, in schools, and in older writing. Though actually, many British writers now prefer oriented as well — they feel orientated is just a longer, heavier shape of the same word. It is not a different idea, and it is not a mistake. It is the British twin.
