A nurseryman grows plants and young trees to sell. He works in a plant nursery: a place with rows of pots, , and small trees — not a room for babies, even though that place is also called a nursery. The word is a little old-fashioned and sounds like a man's job; today people often say nursery worker, grower, or just “he runs a nursery.” You still see nurseryman on plant labels, in gardening books, and in older writing.
