  1. 1（口語）神經質的、過度焦慮的

    Neurotic describes someone who worries too much, or who has strong, hard-to-control anxious feelings and habits about small things — someone who checks the door lock ten times might be called 'a bit neurotic.' It comes from psychology ('neurosis', an older term for anxiety-related mental health problems), but in everyday speech people use it more loosely, often half-jokingly, for someone anxious, , or overly careful. It can sound if said seriously about a real mental health issue.
