Nahuatl is the language of the Aztec people, and of other related peoples in central Mexico.

Spanish soldiers met it in the 1500s. Quite a few Mexican place names, and some English food words — chocolate, tomato, avocado — travelled out of Nahuatl into Spanish and then into English.
