Moderation means keeping something at a reasonable, middle level — not too much and not too little. "Everything in moderation" is a common saying: even good things like chocolate or exercise are best in a balanced amount, not extreme amounts. Online, "moderation" also means the checking and controlling of what people post — a "moderator" removes rude or unsafe comments, and that job is called moderation.
