Meekness is the quality of being meek: a quiet, gentle way of being, and a habit of not arguing. It is the noun. In everyday English it can sound like a soft character, even a person who lets others win. In religious English, especially Christian writing, meekness is often praise: not proud, not trying to win every fight, willing to yield. So the same word can be a kind word or a quiet criticism, depending on who is speaking. That split is the messy truth; a dictionary line that only says 'gentleness' hides it.
