A mason is a person who builds with stone — cutting it, fitting it, and making walls, floors, or buildings. People also say , which is the same job said more fully. Some masons work with brick too. The word is a job name, like baker or carpenter, and it is not capitalised. Though actually, Mason with a capital M is a common family name, and “a Mason” can also mean a member of the , a private club that took its name from the old stone-workers’ groups. If you mean the builder, keep it small: a mason.
