An iteration is one version of something in a process where you keep it step by step — you make something, test it, fix problems, and that new, version is the next iteration. You'll hear this word a lot in tech and design ('this is the third iteration of the app'), but it's spreading into general use for any repeated-and- process, even cooking or writing. In computer programming specifically, 'iteration' also means running the same set of instructions over and over, once for each item in a list.
