Involuntary describes something that happens by itself, without you choosing it or being able to control it - like a sneeze, or your heart beating. It's the opposite of doing something on purpose. You'll see it a lot in biology (involuntary muscles, like your heart) and in law (an involuntary action might not count as a crime, since the person didn't choose to do it).
