Ingestion is the act of taking food or another substance into the body. It is the name for what happens when you . A doctor may ask about ingestion of a drug, or write that ingestion of the berries made someone ill. You would not say this about a normal lunch with friends; you would say eating. In reports, labels, and hospitals, ingestion is the official word. Though actually, it can sound cold: ingestion of alcohol is how a paper talks about drinking.
