Infernal literally means related to hell, as in "infernal " in old religious writing, but in everyday modern English, people mostly use it as an old-fashioned, slightly funny way to complain about something - "this infernal noise!" means "this terrible, noise!" It is a bit like saying "damn", but milder and more old-fashioned.
