To heed advice, a warning, or someone's words means to pay careful attention to it and take it seriously — usually by then acting on it. It's a fairly formal, slightly old-fashioned word; in daily talk, people more often just say "listen to" or "pay attention to." You also see the noun form in the phrase "pay heed to," meaning the same thing, and the negative "take no heed of," meaning to ignore something completely.
