Haphazardly is how you do something when there is no plan and no order. If books are stacked haphazardly, they were put there any which way. If names are added haphazardly, nobody checked a proper list. It is the adverb that belongs with haphazard: the adjective describes the mess; this word describes the manner. Same feeling as , but the stress is on “no system,” not only on “not taking care.” Though actually, like haphazard, it does not mean “in a dangerous way.” That would be hazardously, which people almost never say.
