Granularity is how much detail you put into something, such as a plan, a set of numbers, or a computer system. High granularity means small pieces: each day, each product, each student. Low granularity means big pieces: the whole year, the whole company. It is office and tech English more than kitchen English; a child would not say it about sugar. Though actually, the picture behind it is still grains: how fine you crush the thing. People sometimes say more granularity when they only mean more detail, which is close enough for work talk.
