You can think of it as pointing at the rule-system of a language — sometimes just naming the topic ('this has to do with grammar'), sometimes passing a verdict ('this obeys the rules').
手指向「一套語言規則」。同一個字有兩種指法——一種只是說「這件事屬於文法這個範疇」，像在標示話題；另一種是拿那套規則去量一個句子，然後給出通過與否的判定。這兩種指法在英語形容詞裡很常見（historical、political 也有類似的雙面），所以判斷 grammatical 是哪一個意思，要看它旁邊接的是「一個語言現象」還是「一個具體句子」。
