A goblet is a drinking cup with a round bowl, a thin stem, and a flat base. It has no handle, so you hold the stem. Goblets are often glass or metal. You see them at fancy dinners, in church for wine, and in stories about kings and knights. A mug has a handle; a plain glass has no stem. A goblet is the stemmed one. The word feels a little old or formal — everyday talk is more often glass or wine glass.
