If your hair frizzes, it curls into small, tight, often messy curls, especially when the air is wet. You can also frizz hair on purpose with heat or products. As a noun, frizz is that tight, springy hair that will not lie flat. Hair-care ads talk about fighting frizz all the time. This is everyday English, a little informal. Though actually, big soft curls are not frizz — frizz is tighter, and people often treat it as a problem they want to smooth down, even though some people like it just as it is.
