A forward-looking person, company, or plan is thinking about the years ahead in a hopeful way, and is willing to try new methods, not only keep the old ones. It is a praising word. Newspapers and business writing love it. It does not mean looking in front of you with your eyes, and it does not mean someone who is too bold with people — that is a different forward, the one in . You will nearly always see the : forward-looking.
