Picture a rubber hose next to a metal pipe: push both and only one gives way, then returns. Flexible describes the one that gives. Say it about a person or a plan and the picture holds — the situation pushes, and instead of breaking or refusing, they bend into a new shape.

可以想成：一條橡皮管旁邊放著一根金屬水管，兩個都推推看，只有一個會彎，然後又彈回來。flexible 說的就是會彎的那一個。把它用在人或計畫上，畫面一樣成立——情況推過來，他不是硬碰硬，也不是斷掉，而是順著彎成新的樣子。
