Finality is the quality something has when it is finished, complete, and not open to change. A decision can have finality; a door can close with finality; a voice can carry finality — that tone which means “we are not going back to this.” In law it is a serious idea: once a judgment has finality, the fight is supposed to be over. In ordinary talk it is often about feeling, not paperwork: the finality of packing the last box, of a goodbye that will not be . It does not mean “very good” or “the last one in a list.” It means the door has shut.
