A farmhand is someone who works on a farm, usually as a hired worker, not as the owner. Hand here is an old way of saying “worker” — a person who helps with their hands. A farmhand may feed animals, drive a tractor, pick crops, or mend fences. The word sounds a little old and rural; today people also say farm worker. Though actually, in stories and in the countryside you will still hear farmhand, and it does not sound unkind.
