Picture the moment after a bucket of water has gone over someone: not damp, not just wet, but water running off the sleeves and dripping on the floor. Drenched is that finished state — soaked right through, with more liquid than the thing can hold.
可以想成一桶水潑下去之後的那一刻：不是有點濕，也不是普通的濕，而是袖口還在滴水、地上已經一灘。drenched 講的就是這個「已經完成」的狀態——液體多到裝不下了，全部透過去。淋雨、流汗、醬汁淋太多，都能套進同一個畫面。
