Deep-set eyes seem to sit further back in the face than most people’s, in a deeper hollow. It is a note about the shape of a face, not a judgment, and not a medical complaint. Though actually, tired or ill eyes can look a bit sunken, and sometimes mash those two pictures together: sunken often hints that something is wrong; deep-set is just how the eyes are placed. The phrase you will meet again and again is deep-set eyes. You may occasionally see the word with other things that sit back in a surface, but eyes are the meaning that matters. It is : deep-set.
