A debriefing is the meeting or the stretch of asking that comes after a job, a mission, or a strong experience. People sit down and go through what happened, so the facts and the feelings are not lost. In a company you will hear “We’ll have a debriefing at four.” In the army it is more serious: a full report after a mission. The word names the event; debrief is more often the verb, though people mix them in speech. Same idea as debrief: after, not before — and the aim is to gather information, even if the talk also becomes a review of mistakes.
