Cupidity is a very strong wish to have things, especially money, land, or other people's stuff. It is a formal, rather word — you will meet it in stories and serious writing about greed, not in everyday chat. Someone full of cupidity is not just wanting something; they want it so much that it starts to look ugly. It comes from Latin for 'strong desire'. Cupid, the little love god, comes from the same Latin family — though actually Cupid's desire is love, and cupidity's desire is usually money. Do not mix the two.
