A weapon. A small bow sits across a longer piece of wood. You pull the string back, lock it, lay a short arrow (a bolt) on top, and press a trigger. The shot is strong, because the wood holds the string for you until you are ready. People used it for hunting and war before guns were common. Today you mostly meet it in museums, films, and games, or in sport shooting. It is not a toy, and it is not the long bow you pull with your arm alone.
