    When two things are "correlated," they tend to change together - when one goes up or down, the other usually does too. For example, height and shoe size are correlated: taller people usually have bigger feet. This word shows up a lot in science, , and news reports about studies. One important thing to remember: being correlated does NOT mean one thing causes the other - that mix-up is very common. Two things can move together just by chance, or because some third thing affects both of them.
