Picture sinking into a chair that fits you: nothing pressing, nothing , not too hot, not too cold. Nothing is being added — something unpleasant has simply stopped. English then lifts that same 'the bad thing has eased off' feeling from the body to the heart, and from there to a life where nothing is short.

可以想成：整個人陷進一張剛好合身的椅子——沒有東西壓著、沒有地方痛、不冷也不熱。這個畫面的重點是「不舒服停下來了」，而不是「多了什麼享受」。comfort 的各種意思，就像都從這個感覺往外長：先從身體挪到心裡（難過的時候有人在旁邊，那口氣鬆下來），再挪到生活（什麼都不缺，不用煩惱）。
