Childcare is an arrangement in which someone trained to look after children cares for them while the parents are at work or away. It can be a nursery, a person who looks after children in a home, or after-school care. The word names the service, not the feeling of caring about children. British English often writes it as one word, childcare; American English also writes child care. Though actually, people do not usually use it for a grandmother at home — they keep it for paid or organised care. In Taiwan the idea maps to 托育; the place might be a 托兒所 or an 安親班.
