Your cheekbone is one of the two bones that sit above your cheeks, just below your eyes. You can often feel it if you press under the outer corner of the eye. People talk about high cheekbones when that bone shows clearly; it is a look people notice, not a hospital word. It is simply cheek + bone, and English has had a form of it since Old English (ċēacbān). Dutch kaakbeen looks like a cousin, but that word means the jawbone, which is lower and moves when you chew — not this bone.
