    A campground is a piece of land set aside for people to camp, often in a park or by a lake. A proper one usually has drinking water, toilets, and marked spots for tents or vans. American English likes campground; British English more often says . They point at the same kind of place, though actually can also mean just the one patch of ground your own tent sits on, while campground more clearly means the whole area with many pitches. An ordinary outdoor-holiday word, not a fancy one.
