Buckshot is many small metal balls together from a shotgun. They spread as they fly, so they cover a wider space than one single bullet. The name comes from hunting: a buck is a male deer, and these balls were the large kind, big enough for that animal. Smaller balls, for birds, are called . You will hear buckshot in hunting talk, in the news, and in crime stories. It is a hard, adult word, and it is not the same thing as a rifle bullet.
