Botanical means 'about plants', or 'about botany', the science that studies plants. A botanical garden grows plants so people can see them and scientists can study them. A plant's botanical name is its scientific Latin name, the one share so that a word like rose in one language still points to the same living thing. The word is also used as a noun: botanicals are plants, or bits of plants, used for flavour, smell, or medicine — gin is famous for its botanicals. Botanic and botanical are close cousins; you will see both in the names of gardens.
