Birdsong is the musical noise birds make with their throats — the singing and calling, especially in the early morning. We usually save this word for the pretty, musical kind of sound, not for a harsh squawk, a duck's quack, or a parrot copying human words. You can treat it as a mass of sound (the birdsong in the park) rather than one bird's one note. Poets love it, but ordinary people use it too; it is warm, not technical.
