To antagonize someone is to make them angry or very , usually by doing things they really do not like — taking their things, teasing them, ignoring their wishes, or picking a fight. It is stronger than a small : you are turning that person against you. Teachers and parents use it (“Don't antagonize your sister”). News writers use it for a country or a group that makes another group hostile. British spelling is often antagonise, with an s. It is not a rude word, but it is not warm either; it quietly says the trouble was, in a way, asked for.
