If things abound, there are very many of them. Problems abound means you meet problems everywhere. Writers also say a place abounds in or abounds with something: the market abounds in cheap fruit. The word is a little literary; in casual talk people more often say there are lots of or it’s full of. What abounds is a plural or mass thing existing in large numbers — shops, stories, mistakes — not a single person. You do not “abound something” the way you “fill a bag”; the things themselves abound, or the place abounds in them.
